Another sell out show for Redfoot Youth Theatre with this touching story performed in the Stow Studio over 3 nights - Friday 28 June, Saturday 29 June and Sunday 30 June, 2019.
Featuring over 20 Redfoot members from Year 7 to Year 9 and based on Tom Hungerford's autobiography, Stories from Suburban Road vividly portrayed the pleasure and pain of growing up in South Perth between the two world wars through a unique collection of episodes that are based on the author's own childhood and adolescence in semi-rural suburbia in Western Australia. Bird-nesting and the school day, crabbing and swimming in the Swan River, Chinese market gardens and the bush, South Perth Zoo and the old corner store are all brought to life through the eyes of a boy growing up in the 1920’s and 30’s.
I thought she was the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen. Every rich amber feather was flecked at the end with chocolaty brown. Her shining russet hood covered her neck as far as her shoulders. Beautiful bantam hen! The most beautiful thing I’d ever seen.
